Cumaru can be used in contact with the ground without preservatives although yearly water sealing is recommended to avoid excessive graying. It is widely used in commercial applications where large volumes of fixed dimensions and lengths are required like docks, deck and bridge construction. Cumaru is of the top species of choice for the boardwalk industry and commercial projects where heavy dimensions and large volumes of single lengths are required.
